My favourite is Stephen Hawking
Yes he has contributed so much to physics and astronomy but the first time I heard about him I remember being told that since he couldn’t really move he used to use his tongue movements in some way to control his wheel chair and that he used eye movement sensing mechanism to type and stuff and I was completely awe struck
And maybe that was the first time I thought “science is cool”
I’ve Read The theory of everything and Brief answers to the big questions and love them both
I am yet to read the brief history of time though

For me, it isnt even a question. Carl Sagan. He was a visionary and while Cosmos is dated now it requires very little revision to be brought up to date. I remember when the Cosmos series came out and i have probably watched it a dozen times over the year.

I have an autographed copy of Cosmos. I was working at JPL at the time and had occasion to be at at meetings involving Cassini.

Carl Sagan, of course, he was just awesome, which is an understatement. But I have to give a close #2 for Johannes Kepler, what he figured out 400+ years ago was simply amazing. I think no explanation for either, they were both geniuses.

I would have to say Isaac Newton. His theory of gravity was the real start of what we now call astrophysics.

Michio Kaku . I don’t think he needs an explanation . But ,… he’s just really cool and doesn’t come across like is so superior to anybody else .
Niel is too political for me and I’ve really lost all respect for him . The way he speaks is so condescending too . He talks like he’s some kind of god and everybody else is just an idiot .

Michio is cool. You dont see him show up in a lot of stuff. Dr. Becky Smethurst is fun, and Brian Cox is right up there of the current gang. Neil…well i can’t say i dislike him, but his voice kind of puts me to sleep.

Hawking’s different because it’s not just the science - it’s seeing someone work at that level despite everything. That’s the part that actually sticks with you.

I love listening to Brian Cox, the way he explains, and his passion. Then also Carl Sagan, i used to like Neil De Grasse Tyson, but he likes mocking. And i dont like this behaviour, he says, that life from other planet must be more different from ours than human and bananas DNA. Ok, but he seems to forget, that life developped out of 4 aminoacids that arrived on earth probably on meteorites- so from space, that we share with other celestial bodies and its also very likely, that if life exists anywhere else, it would also most probably develop out of these same amino acids. I also dont like his mockery of David Grusch, and how he mixed the “nazca aliens” case with the congress that took place in july 2023. These “alien” bodies from nazca are most probably a hoax, but David Grusch has never testified in this case. Yet in his videos it looked as if he did. Anyway Tyson has also interesting discussions and books that i enjoyed.
Neil is basically just quoting Sagan, who in his Cosmos series said he would expect alien life to be very different then us.
