this is my best one got sick of the hand control position so I modified an old samsung phone holder. No more having to hold it.
My best mod was to rewire my dual axis drive on my 10” f/5 to accommodate a dual ixis drive corrector.
Hi Mr. Brian, your scope is huge! And it must be super powerful. Love it! Is the whole thing made up of steel?
Nikolai
The tube is reinforced fiberglass. The mount is part cast aluminum and part stainless steel.
My Astrozap ocular rack LXD75 specific with slots for the hand controller . Sorry the photo is so lousy .
hi Brian thats a monster you have there
Yes, and I love it. I bought it in 1986. I have to get the mirror resurfaced soon. I’m taking it to Ostahowski for that.
I think my best mod would be getting rid of the crappy wagon wheel bearing on my dob and replacing it with a real bearing. Now it is buttery smooth.
I donno. Maybe my dew shield for my Guide Scope, or my redwood feet for my tripod.
Last year I got dewed out one evening when my guide scope fogged up with dew. I made my own dew shield for my Svbony 106 60mm guide scope out of 3" black PVC pipe and a clamp for my Losmandy D-bar I use on top of my AT130EDT telescope. I added a heating pad to it to insure it won’t dew up.
My redwood feet for my Losmandy GM811G mount are fitted with bolts to adjust the height to plumb my mount to the Earth where I keep it set up. I level my mount with my digital level, so my mount is plumb to the Earth and has a level starting point.
They can be seen under my mount’s feet in the above image.
Since we bought this house with a pool, I used to use a 5-gallon bucket hung under my AVX mount to dampen it. I would dip pool water in it for ballast.
That’s a few of my home groan modifications. I’ve always been a DIY guy…
Sorry for the necro-post.
My best mod would have to be adding a setting circle and angle gauge to my ten inch dob.
