Hi, I have a relative about to stay who has MND, I would like them to be able to do some observing but obviously this will have to be remote.
I have purchased a Seestar S50 for them to use but apparently their eyesight is not really up to using an iPad.
What I am looking for is a way to send the image from my Nexstar 8SE to a pc wirelessly for real time observations.
Any suggestions?
There should be a way to tie it into a pc monitor.
I would suggest contacting See Star support and asking them directly.
Eyesight can be overcome by display size in many cases.
What I know about the See Star’s you could poke in your eye and not know it is there.
If your See Star is Wi-Fi capable, you might try using Tight Vnc to wirelessly connect it to a computer, and thus to a larger display, or maybe a TV set.
I found this and it is quite capable of WiFi.
Transmission Mode Wi-Fi 5G & 2.4G / USB Type-C / Bluetooth 5.0
You may find as I have that the 2.4G is better and more stable.
Me experiences with my own Wi-Fi and a minicomputer were quite dismal. I have since managed to destroy my old router and my replacement has good reach for my equipment out in the backyard.
You can download apps to your phone to test your Wi-Fi signal at likely spots, and even unlikely spots, to find a location that will work best.
Good luck with your endeavors.
As an aside, you are welcome to my You Tube for Kids presentations to see if there is enough interest for your endeavors.
This one works particularly well with HD Smart TV. Or at least the HD TV’s I’ve viewed it on.
Thanks for the info, I’m looking at the S50 as more of an interesting ‘toy’ and am really looking for a way to connect my 8SE wirelessly (preferably without spending 2K on a ZWO camera)!
You might look into eyepiece cameras.
I am thinking web cam and a laptop.
