Hey all, first post here, even though I joined months ago.
I’m something of a solarhead, as my night skies are not worth mentioning.
My grab and go for this is my William Optics 61mm. I use a homemade Baader 3.8 filter with a Baader Ca-K filter in the nosepiece of my ZWO 174MM camera. For finding the Sun without burning eyeballs, I have a homemade Sun finder with a 9X50 finder scope with Baader 5.0 film on top of the scope.
Please note: Baader 3.8 film is NOT for visual, whereas the 5.0 is.
The Baader Ca-K filter is really not a true Ca-K filter compared to a Quark, Daystar or the like. I prefer to refer to it as “enhanced white light”, EWL for short lol. It does bring out the faculae compared to regular white light. The scope on my EQ6:
I also have an 80mm f/11.4 scope for white light. For H/A, a PST mod with a Baader 90mm ERF mounted on a Celestron XLT 102mm. A member from another forum built it for me and supplied the parts. Total cost was 1200 CDN, pretty good for a 90mm single stack.
Today was just too hot for doing all that, so some quick grabs with the small scope.
Have a good night all
